上周英國說客組織CBI的一個調查報告顯示,半數受訪的顧主表示倫敦樓價過高,已經開始令他們請人出現困難,特別是Entry-level(基層)工種的問題最大。英國樓價於七月按年再升10.6%,連續15個月上升,而倫敦樓價升得更快。

調查組織CBI的總裁指:「好多員工都開始因為倫敦的生活成本太貴,被迫搬走。佢地要搬去較離地區,花更多時間撘車返工。」(“Many employees are finding themselves priced out of the capital. They are having to look further afield for somewhere to live, and having to pay more for the daily commute”.)

FT訪問英國商會的政策部主管Adam Marshall亦有同樣的睇法,並認為樓價太高迫走顧工的情況不只出現在倫敦,英國南部都有這情況:「但Bristol 這些地區顧主都擔心請唔到人,有啲顧主要俾高啲人工,有啲要請啲住得較遠的員工,假如交通系統出事就好大問題啦。」(”In places such as Bristol, employers have concerns because they can’t get people. In some cases they are having to pay over the odds, and in some cases they have staff members having to travel extremely long journeys, which causes difficulties and challenges when the transport system has problems,” )
